Call for Models/Designers for J-Fashion Show

Posted with permission from ameliecafe.

Anime World Chicago wants to showcase the Japanese and Asian-inspired fashions. They are looking for designers and models for their J-Fashion Show. They are seeking creators and models to demonstrate the following styles:

* All Lolita styles (sweet, gothic, classic, punk, wa, hime, guro, ouji, boystyle, country, EGL/EGA, etc.)
* All Gal styles (gyaru, ganguro, oneegyaru, kogyaru, manba, gyaru-kei, banba, etc.)
* Decora
* Mori girl
* Visual Kei
* Fairy-kei
* Dolly-kei
* Brand, Off-Brand, Indie Japanese/-inspired fashions
* Other street fashions you suggest!

MODELS WITH WARDROBE: Please write a few sentences about the fashion you're representing (what characterizes that style) and your own outfit (if you made it, bought it, etc.). This will be read while you walk the runway.

MODELS WITHOUT WARDROBE: If you'd love to be a model, send them your info and they'll try to match you up with a designer so you can model their creations in the show.

DESIGNERS: They can match you up with a model. They will also announce you as the creator when the outfit is shown on stage.

PROFESSIONAL COMMISSION ARTISTS: Contribute an outfit for a model to wear in our show and they'll announce your company as the creator during the show as well as give you free space to display fliers or business cards so attendees can pick them up.

If you would like to be involved, please email Tell them which of the above categories you fit into. Include the fashion you'd like to represent, and if possible, attach or include a link to a photograph or design sketch of your outfit.

Question Time

Today Aira made a post in her blog, which I think you'll all find an interesting and positive read. The discussion was continued on Facebook. And it got me thinking more about the ongoing debate of wearing lolita with a headscarf/hijab. I guess I personally feel strongly towards a desired acceptance from the wider community. As a result, it got me thinking about your opinions.

Have you ever been put off wearing Lolita due to hurtful comments from others?

I can honestly say I have considered not wearing it anymore because of some of the things that were said towards me. However I decided I did not wish to let those people "win" so to speak. I thought, if I enjoy something so much, why should I let the comments of one person or more affect me in that way. Granted it is not a nice feeling when people, people who do not even know you or anything about you, form a picture in their mind and jump to a negative conclusion. That upsets me.

What do you think?

I shall leave this question open. You can connect it to your faith if you desire, but are not required to.

hijab tutorials

Heya all, Eid is coming up again, so I've been googling for some new hijab tutorials. Here are my favs:

youtube channel:
I like her cos she's got many styles and explains it all pretty well. Some creative ideas too. And while most of the styles reveal some neck, its easy to tweak it to be more modest :)

My fav by Yaz is this one:
cos she pins a tank top to the hijab to make it more modest AND allows for necklaces. sweet! <3
(the way i'd do it for Eid is just to use a small headscarf inside instead of a tank top, or i'll die in the heat)

another website wif many tutorials:

Have fun exploring, and happy Ramadan!

Sweet lolita

Hello / Assalammuallaikum / ようこそ / مرحبا

Firstly a message from your moderator ~ I would like to thank all those people who;
a) have recently joined the community
b) left a comment or entry
c) and those who've spread the word of Muslim Lolitas ♥

Secondly, I'd like to take this opportunity to advertise the Muslim Lolita photostream on Flickr which was setup by aira_sakura. A link has been added to the community link list.

Lastly, I would like to pass on my apologies from not posting. Recently my life outside of the internet has been exceedingly busy and time consuming. Which brings me nicely onto the purpose of this post → I went to the London Expo last weekend, and dressed in Sweet Lolita for the occasion. Here's my entry on daily_lolita.

One of the best things about this experience, was allowing the world to see that Muslim Lolitas do actually exist! This whole issue has caused a large amount of discussion on the internet. Many believed it wasn't possible, but we ladies have proved them wrong!
Apparently my post in daily_lolita resulted in me being the talk of a discussion where it would appear that I've been Tumblr'd!

Lolita Pics!!!!!

To all Lolita's out there!!!!
The Muslim Lolita Blog is on a quest to collect pictures of Muslim Lolita's from all over the globe and also individual Lolitas to be  showcased on our Blog!!!
Here's a chance to feature yourself in your Lolita dress!!!

Here are some steps to be followed:-
1) collect pictures [old or new] of you in your lolita dresses. An exotic or creative style of wearing a hijab is preferable but not wearing a hijab is also fine just as long as you wear lolita.

2)With the pictures attach your:-
+Name [If you prefer nicknames to you real name then that is fine]
+the state and country you live in.
+ a description of the picture if you wish
+A short biodata of yourself [If you want to write a whole essei is alright too (^w^)]

3) send those pics to aira_labyrinthine@hotmail. com with the title "MUSLIM LOLITA PHOTO"

4) You can send as many pictures as you want of the same dress your wearing or of different dresses. I will then reply to you when your feature has been updated~

There are no deadlines to this. We want a gallery of Muslim Lolita Photos and an archive of Muslim Lolita united from all over the globe~ I will introduce each person and their pictures onto the Muslim Lolita Blog and will also be archived into the Muslim Lolita Photo Gallery on Flickr
